First Load Checklist: What to Verify Before You Book

A bad load rarely looks bad upfront — it usually looks like a rate that's a little better than the rest of the board, from a broker nobody's checked out yet. The loads that cause real problems (unpaid detention, a rate that changes after pickup, a broker who goes dark) are almost always missing one of these checks.

This isn't about slowing down — most of this takes minutes once it's a habit. A broker or carrier's track record is also easier to check when it's visible somewhere real, like a Directory profile and reviews from other members, instead of just a name on a load board.
